An evening of song in aid of Tom’s Fund raised £500 at the LVS School in Ascot, Berkshire, on May 20.
The staff and parents’ choir put on a packed evening of entertainment and headmistress Christine Cunniffe said: “I was incredibly impressed by the standard of the performances from the choir and soloists.
“Many of the performers were pushed out of their comfort zones and I can only praise them for the achievements. They came together so passionately and enthusiastically to raise money for Tom’s charity. Well done to everyone involved.”
Apart from singing, Mrs Cunniffe also performed a rendition of the first movement of Mozart’s piano concerto in D Minor with piano teacher James Bryant.
CRY and Tom’s Fund was brought to the school’s attention by family friends Juliet and Clive Matthews, whose son attends LVS.

Done it! Indy at the end of the race.
Indy Sahota raised more than £200 for Tom’s Fund and loads of awareness after wearing a CRY T-shirt during her first ever 10k run, the BUPA 10,000 in London on Sunday.
“It was completely exhilarating,” said Indy. “I set two goals for the day; not to stop during the run and to finish in an hour.” She achieved both aims.
“Seeing a Team CRY T-shirt halfway through spurred me on and it was great to celebrate with everybody at the CRY stand after the race. An amazing day!”
Indy, who works for the BBC, is a former colleague of Paul and Claire.

Getting ready to raise the roof!
The LVS school in Ascot, Berkshire, has chosen to support Tom’s Fund as part of its Head’s Challenge.
It’s thanks to our Ealing friends Clive and Juliet Matthews – whose son Luke attends the school – who approached Head Teacher Christine Cunniffe.
Mrs Cunniffe said: “ I have witnessed first- hand lives being saved because young people have been screened. Tom was known personally to Juliet and Clive who sing in the choir and we collectively decided to hold the concert in Tom’s memory to raise awareness and contribute to the wonderful work the charity does.”
The first event is a night of songs from the staff and parents’ choir on May 20. There will be a wide range of styles and a performance of the first movement of Mozart’s piano concerto in D Minor by Head Teacher Christine Cunniffe and piano teacher James Bryant.
The concert starts at 7pm and takes place at the Britvic Theatre, LVS Ascot, London Road, Ascot, Berkshire SL5 8DR. Tickets cost £5 each and are available from the school reception or by ringing 01344 882770.

Team Tom VI – the 2013 Bridges squad.
The eighth CRY London Bridges walk is in two months time, on July 6.
It would be great if you could join us.
Raising awareness is just as important as raising funds so if you feel awkward about yet again asking people for cash, you don’t have to. Simply register, wear the T-shirt and walk.
More than 1,200 people took part last year, the biggest number to date. It’s not an endurance test, just a stroll for a couple of hours across the Bridges and a pleasant way to see some of London’s landmarks while raising CRY’s profile.
Full details and a registration form can be found by clcking here. Mark on your registration form that you are walking for Team Tom.
Hope to see you there!
