Claire raised £250 by running a second-hand book stall at the Brentford Festival in Blondin Park, Ealing, on Sunday, September 7.
She was delighted with the amount but also pleased at how people responded to the Tom’s Fund stand: “Many people either knew Tom directly or had heard of him and knew about CRY. Many more stopped and looked at our display so we hope that we have helped to raise awareness.”
Claire thanked all those who had helped on the day.

The event runs until 6pm and there are plenty of things to do – more than 100 other stalls and a fun fair are among the distractions – so if you have a moment to visit it would be great to see you.

Claire’s pop-up book sale raised a further £168 for CRY on Saturday – despite the torrential rain.
“I was surprised but really pleased by how much we raised,” said Claire. “I’m also very grateful to all those who bought books and especially to Sue and Chris for helping.”
The money adds to the £870 raised by Claire’s main book sale in May – which also had to contend with wet weather – and means that the two events have raised a grand total of £1038.
The sales take place outside Munson’s Coffee, St Mary’s Road. Ealing. All unsold books are donated to Oxfam in Ealing so nothing goes to waste.

With six months to go in Tom’s Fund’s attempt to raise £100,000 to provide more free heart screenings for young people, we are closing in on our target.
After all the brilliant recent support, we are now into the ‘teens’ and need around £19,000 to make the £100k that we’d love to mark the year during which Tom would have been 21.
For my part, rain failed to dampen our spirits – as we used to write in my old newspaper days – when we held our most recent book sale.
With the help of a gazebo belonging to Rob and Caro Sanders and lots of volunteers we managed to raise £870 at the event outside Munsons cafe in South Ealing.
A generous donation from Munsons took us over the £80,000 mark – all of which will go towards CRY’s heart screenings and research.
So hugest thanks once again to Mario and the baristas, customers and helpers who made it such a successful day.
